Journaling.
I started journaling 20 years ago, influenced by my friend Marin, a gifted writer and poet. Throughout high school, she and I would regularly spend lunch hours in the English hall, sharing recent entries or prompts, debating the best notebook types and pens (for me: unlined moleskine, rollerball), and delighting in the way our journals grew “puffy with ink” as we filled them.
Today, journals “puffy with ink” are still so visually satisfying to me that I display mine backwards on a shelf, inky, puffy pages in full view.
